Powercenter Pro refuses to start up |

I am trying to get Mac OS 10.1 to run on my PowerCenter Pro. When XPostFacto restarts the machine the screen switches on, goes black for a moment, then switches off. Then a black and white 'happy mac' icon appears and the machine freezes at this point. The CD drive spins down after a while. The machine has a Powerlogix G3 processor, an Apple OEM Atto Express PSC SCSI card with a 9GB and a 2GB drive attached to it, and a Pioneer 305S drive on the built-in SCSI bus. The video card is a Radeon 7000 and I set XPostFacto to display on port 'A'. The throttle menu seems to have no effect. I would much appreciate any tips on getting this to work. Would it be worth getting Mac OS 10.2 or would this cause even more problems? |

Check out the thread entitled "PowerCenter Pro freezes at setup screen" started on Dec 2nd by jimlinke. I'm still working on my problem -- Next week, I'm going to install OS X 10.2 on a SCSI drive on another supported Mac, and bring it home and install the drive on my PowerCenter Pro's built-in SCSI bus. Tech support at Sonnet suggested removing ALL unnecessary hardware (simplify, simplify) at first -- just to get it to boot into OS X. I have to use the original ATI graphics card because the onboard video isn't supported, but I'll remove the TempoHD and Adaptec PCI cards as well as the ZIP and CD-ROM drives. I'll post results here (if they are interesting/useful) (Maybe I'll experience a Festivus miracle!) Colonel Panik (tnolen) |
