xpf 2.2.4 problem-maybe it's me? |

When recently installing Jaguar (it rocks!) on my 7500, I had a few problems, mainly self-induced. Once I got past the 8 GB issue (what Apple really means is 8000 MB), I couldn't get the installer to run. I forget the exact messages, but what I got was a screenful of messages saying certain kexts couldn't be loaded. I decided to go back a few versions of XPF and found that 2.2.1 worked perfectly fine. If anyone else is having a problem, I would certainly try this. Also, for what it's worth, I am trying a slightly different configuration than the recommended one. I first installed MacOS 9.x on my target partition and made sure it was working properly. I then installed X on top of this and use that one partition for both OS X, Classic, and (when needed) OS 9. So far this is working out well and it gives me the option of booting into OS 9 on my X partition, which allows me to run my favorite disk utilities on my "strictly OS 9" partition. I can also configure my Classic system to run optimally under X while configuring my OS 9 system to run things that don't work in Classic mode. Meanwhile, thanks again Ryan for making all this possible. |
