USB2 Support on the Mac? |

There are several vendors that claim to have FW/USB2 cards that are Mac compatible. All of these that I have seen have a caveat that USB support on the Mac is limited to v1.1 speeds due to a lack of USB2 drivers, which are Apple's responsibility. Has anyone found a USB2 card that works at full 2.0 (480Mbps) speeds on the Mac???? |

The Sonnet Tempo Trio has had OS X USB2 drivers since July (November for 10.2) but they don't include support for hubs. They say it's supposed to give USB 2.0 speeds but I don't have anything to test them with yet. Any USB 2 hard drive will probably beat the USB 1.1 speeds but I'm not sure what kind of USB 2 device will get you near 480 Mb/s. OS 9 will probably always treat USB 2.0 devices as 1.1. |
