Hi Folks, As the subject says I've raised the white flag. Specifics: PowerWave w/Powerlogix G3 400 192 MB memory Seagate 2g, 4g, IBM 2g drives (internal SCSI) CDROM (internal), CD-RW (external) 10.0 installed (using external CD-RW) and running just fine (throttle set at 4). 9.2.1 installed via OS9helper and running fine. Reinstalled 10.0 after 9.2 just to make sure that wasn't the problem and 10.0 re-installed just peachy. Can't install 10.1 via upgrade disk and latest versions of XPOSTFACTO. Screen shots of verbose mode are given at: http://myweb.core.com/photos/pdserv@en.com/OSX/ Things tried, all to no effect, get exactly the same boot panic sequence every time (at least it's consistent). Swapping, moving around memory Various throttle settings Sequentially disconnecting hard drives, CDROM Clean install of 9.1 Help!! Peter |

Ah, yes, I think that some of the ATI cards were having a problem of this kind at one point--unfortunately, I don't remember all the details any more. |

Ryan, Thanks for the reply. I have tried the internal CDR but it's not an Apple so the install just sits there and waits. Also have done some SCSI manipulation but I'll try some more. Finally, I have a stock PowerWave with the ATI video card. I think I read this is a problem with 10.1 install CD. Could this be the root of the problem. Peter |

Might be worth disconnecting the CD-RW and trying to install with the internal CD. Though verbose mode is showing some errors on the internal SCSI bus--that is usually a question of termination problems, or SCSI cable problems. |

Hi Peter, I think the problem is "reinstalling" after installing 9.2.1. Does OS 9 have its own physical drive? My best experince was by installing OS X new on a clear and fresh formattet volume, formatted with "Hard Disk Speed Tools". With apples driver I always got a lot of funny problems. I had a goog running volume with OS X 10.1.5 and after "aktualising" with OS X 1.2.1 CD nothing was running well. Than I formatted the drive new and installed OS X 2.1 new from CD, it is running very fine now. |
