I have a 9600/G4/800-Sonnet. I bought a GV USB modem for OSX because I had read that X does not suport serial ports. Unfortunately, the USB modem is not recognized, and therefore, don't have the option to choose the USB modem port like I do in OS9.....perhaps OSX doesn't even support that option. Readers have responded that I use a serial modem. Before I buy, I am wondering what FAX software works with OSX and what modems support it so I don't make the same mistake as before. Thanks, Marshall |

There are two open source FAX softwares that I am aware of. One is Cocoa efax, and I can not remember the name of the other one. I'd look on versiontracker.com or macupdate.com and search for FAX to find the other. From what I've read efax works great. I downloaded a version long ago but have not tried it yet. I have an old Global Village Teleport 56k serial modem. The serial ports to appear in the network control panel so I believe they are active on our old machines. |
