Hmm. Once again. I find myself thirsty for a smooth Genie Effect. I don't know if any can answer this. But I did come up with a idea. I don't know if there is some secret QE Configuration file that actually does something (not the configuration.plist file for ENABLING QE.. I'm looking for something more indepth). But here is my idea. I don't know if its possible, but, it would help out us Oldworld' users. What I am trying to look into is to see if one can configure specific aspects of QE itself. Meaning, I would like to get QE to only do larger things of the OS- like the Genie Effect, Background fading, etc.. But yet, the rest of the GUI would go through the CPU. So things like Dialogue boxes, buttons, etc, would all go through the CPU (without QE), but anything like the Window zooming, or Minimization effects would be QE Accelerated. Technically, I'm looking to reign back on the PCI choking thing. My network card doesn't like it. Therefor by balencing QE and the GUI between the Radeon and CPU, one should be able to save quite a bit of PCI bandwith for other cards to use (meaning, not the entire freakin' GUI is being pushed and mangled through the PCI Bus, just the big things that need to be done sometimes, not always if you know what I mean). Is there any hope in this? Or is QE completly All on or All off sorta thing.. |

My suspecion is that you would have to get into recompiling the source for QE to make those changes, and I don't think Apple would make the necessary code available. The changes you are thinking of sound too intense to be configured in a preferences file. Who knows though.... |
