As a novice to os x 10.2 on a power mac 7600 i don't really understand the classic running in os x 10.2. When i boot in x i get a window saying my classic needs upgrades to work. When i click update i get a window saying it can't complete due to an error. I have my original drive with 9.2.2 and i have a drive partitioned with X on the first partition and i copied 9.2.2 from my original drive to the second partition. Is there a problem having the same 9.2.2 system on two different drives? Please help! Wayne |

Sometimes permissions problems will prevent OS X from updating packages required for Classic to run within OS X. Try repairing your permissions on your OS X installation. I recall Apple had a KB article on Classic. You may want to search its website for clues. |

first off is there an error number with the error? If there is there are a few site, including Apple Knowlage Base, that can help idetify the error. Next do you need to different 9 partitions? I have 2 because i never used OS9forever to boot with 9.2.2 so i have 9.1 as a backup start up drive and 9.2.2 as classic that works fine. you should also try to find out what software you have that modifies the system folder (Not extentions or prefs but things like processor updates that you don't need any more, i know that the sonnet suff is unnessicary in OSX and Classic mode. hope some of this helps |
