Hi again! I just got a new OEM Adpatec SCSI 29160N, with a Dell(yuck!) sticker on it. I tried to falsh the rom to a power domain, and got a ROM verification error. Do I have to pull out my soldering stuff and replace the ROM, or is there an easier hack to this?? If not any thoughts on where to get the correct ROM chip? I have looked around the web, and despite the one article on xlr8yourmac about an old 2940, nothing about this card. I have converted several 2940 cards and the Power Domain flash utility works great for that card, so I am wondering if I can do this with the 29160N(via tome viewer, etc). I can use it in my windoze box if not, so the 50 bucks I spent will not go to waste. I have a feeling the current ROM is not the proper size to accept the power domain programming strings. Any input is appreciated! I have an lvd Ultrastar 18 gig drive, and I want to boot 10.2.6 of that from this card, and the 2940 does not boot OSX(as we all know). My machine... 9500 g4 800 1 gig ram two drives on internal bus two drives on 2940 card radeon 7000 macally firewire/USB combo Everything right now is running well, but my OSX disk is only a 4 gig drive, and I really don't want to mess with 68-50 pin converters, etc. |
