I have an 8500 with newertech 300 card...512mb ram...18gb scsi drive, terminated ok on internal scsi chain...divided into two 9gb drives...OSX.2 on the first partition I had OSX loaded just fine, running like a champ. then i got a wild hair or two... I added a usb/firewire pci card. no problems at all. I added a ATI Radeon. no problems at all. I exchanged the processor with a powerlogix 450 (which was working just fine with osx in a 7500)...i pressed the little button by the processor card to reset the board...i restart, and at the grey apple screen it crashes (panics?) with a bunch of horizontal white lines across the screen. I reboot with a CD-ROM, then reboot again to 9.1. I tried to reinstall osx twice, each time with same results. I double checked to make sure that the cache was set (it was). i yanked the powerlogix 450, replaced the newertech, reinstalled osx, everything worked fine. replaced again with 450, everything worked fine. system software update ran, upgraded software to 10.2.6, restart, same crash with lines across the screen. anybody have a clue as to what the problem might be? amd i missing something obvious? |
