Hey all I'm having problems sending with the OS X Apple Mail.app... I can receive mail just not send it... the error reads as follows: The outgoing mail server "****-****" failed to deliver this message. +OK Messaging Multiplexor (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.12 (built ****) Since the server is the same as incoming with no differences I'm not getting this... my research shows the iPlanet deal is part of the Unix Mail server incorporated into OS X. I know it's not my ISP because Netscape Mail works fine... anyone with any suggestions? This is frustrating. Thanks SM |

I've had the same problem a couple times, and it has always turned out that I had misnamed the outgoing smtp server, and when mail couldn't find the misnamed server (of course) it gave me such a message. I think the problem may be that you have specified the same server as incoming mail. I do not claim to be an expert on the matter, but I don't recall ever seeing incoming and outgoing mail servers being named the same, although I suppose it is possible. In any case, I'd go have a look at the configuration you have in Netscape that works, and compare it with the Mail configuration, paying special attention to the spelling. You know how these computer things are about teeny-tiny spelling errors. |
