Regarding the installer quitting, two things spring to mind. There may be a problem reading from your OSX CD. Also errors like this can be due to bad RAM. Using XPF to initiate the install (even if you could, which I doubt with the current versions) probably won't make any difference. |

Thanks Nick and Marty. Unfortunately I had tried that approach. Just went back and tried twice with same answer. I get through the routine past the choice of installing volume. (I have divided the hard disk and have 6.4 Gb allotted} Goes on to Easy Install and "Preparing base system", Then I get a black screen with message: "The installer has quit due to an unexpected error (exit code 0)". I have a Power book originally G3--I believe bronze keys--upgraded with PowerLogix G3/G4 upgrade. I have assumed this error resulted from the upgrade procedure. What do you think? |

Yeah, Nick is right, You don't need XPF, it's on;y getting in your way. Use the regular "Startup Disk" control panel to choose your OSX boot drive and you should be off to the races... Marty |

What model of G3 PowerBook are you using. XPF is only required on the original version. The error message sounds like you have one of the newer G3 PowerBooks which shouldn't require XPF in order to install or run 10.2 |
