I came across this on Ramjet's website: -- * PowerMacs 7300-8600 have 8 memory slots, 9500-9650 have 12 memory slots. -- Installing memory in pairs is recommended. This will enable Memory Interleaving which will yield 15-30% faster RAM access times. -- For G3/4 Processor Upgraded Machines: 7300-9600 series machines that have been upgraded to newer G3 or G4 processors cannot run the standard 4k Refresh 64mb or 128mb DIMMs. Rather, they will require our 2k Refresh 64mb DIMMs listed below. I'm concerned about the 2k Refresh comment. Does anybody have any view about this? I recently purchased 128MB DIMMs with 4k Refresh. Or is Ramjet just full of it? |

Neal at Sonnet told me that their cards are compatible with both 2k and 4k refresh DIMMs, and that Ramjet may have been referring to the old Newer G3 upgrades which had more difficulty. |

I have a 9600 upgraded to G4/800 c/w six sticks of 4K refresh,128MB FPM and two sticks of 4K refresh,64MB FPM (896MB total interleaved). Nary a glitch for two years running. Hmmmm ....... |

Even though 6*128=768, not 664. But the general idea of message you are trying to get across is clear :-) Btw, I have 832 MB of RAM, which is a mixed bunch of 128, 64 and 32 MB sticks (grouped pair wise) and everything works fine in my 9600 upgraded with a G4/700. |
