I have a bud who I juiced his 8500 to a g4 700 and os9.2.2. He tells me he got a fibre channel PCI card for 30(!!!) bucks on Ebay that is supposed to be compatible with macs. He said he tried it but he couldn't get it to work in os 9(I assume it will work in 10 only) after searching for bios, drivers, the usual search and destroy stuff. He threw it into his XP machine and is running 2 drives on it with a wicked fast transfer, according to him. He tells me it is the DB9 connector, which is different from the newer optical connection. I plan on bringing him him up to jag, and my question is why is this fibre channel card so cheap?? Apple has one but it is crazy expensive, what is the deal?? If it can run on a MAC, I assume that jag has the drivers native to the OS??? I assume you all know where I am headed with this one, IF........ Thanks in advance for any info, I am not too familiar with this new technology. Jim |

Oy yes, I do know that some FC crads work on the 64 bit PCI, but there are also cards that can run on the standard 32 bit PCI bus. Again, any info or links would be great!! Jim |
