PTPro / G4 700 / still on slow SCSI / ATI 7000 bottom slot / 280 ram / no other cards / (2) 18 GB Seagates / 10.2.6 / sonnet tune-up enabled L3 cache. Just got up to 10.2.6. I'm getting perpetual bball in the finder. When I repair volume, I get "orphaned indirect node temp158211." Seems to recur. Thoughts? |

Repair Permissions is one routine that will use 90% of available RAM, but 768MB seems to offer enough head room. The system alone (right after a fresh startup) can use 200MB or more. Faster disk drives, SCSI is nice for random access and concurrent I/Os. You probably need to repair from Single User mode using fsck, or put Jaguar on another drive, if not, then use the CD. How about booting into OS 9 and using Disk First Aid and Disk Warrior from there? Repairing permissions should be done from the same version of the OS - what rules are used on the CD will be different from your 10.2.6 system. |

one thing I noticed you have only 280 RAM I have found anything under 512 increases the BB spin time. I recently had to reduce my RAM down to 256 and the BB spin time increased greatly I will be increasing my RAM ASAP. Also seem to have more problems with less RAM it could be all the disk switching because of the shortage of RAM |

Not sure what they are but I get them sometimes along with crosslinked files I just run fsck -y until they are all gone and I get a clean bill on the drive |
