Are there news about the original powerbook G3 ? With the latest versions of XPF I was not able to install osX on my 'no-internal-modem PB' , because of ethernet, still unsupported. Any tip, trick, project, suggestion ? thanks |

Nothing yet. It appears that the "ethernet-only" model has an ethernet chip with a slightly different ROM, which the ethernet driver is complaining about. Presumably there is a LinuxPPC or NetBSD driver that works, so presumably there would be a way of solving this. But I haven't had time to really focus on it lately. One complication is that Apple's driver for the Kanga ethernet is not open source, so it will be necessary to write a driver from scratch. But the equivalent NetBSD or LinuxPPC driver will be good documentation, at least (it will need a fair bit of tweaking to fit in the IOKit driver model, though). |
