PM 8500 XLR8 G3 300 10.2 XFP 2.2.1 2.2.2 I've tried both XPF 2.2.1 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 all unsuccessfully. 2.2.1 and 2.2.2: Both these will install 10.2 just fine. Upon restart, the boot screen (gray apple) is all garbled and booting halts (no messages). 2.2.3: Installation from CD causes kernal panic. Linked is two photographs of the garbled screen. http://www.bgmccollum.com/jag/screen.jpg http://www.bgmccollum.com/jag/closeup.jpg Anyone else run into this? BG |

I'm hoping that version 2.2.4 will help with this problem. Here's the URL to download (I haven't officially released it yet): http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/Download/XPostFacto2.2.4b1.sit If the install goes OK and you get a kernel panic on reboot, then part of the problem may be that the Mac OS X Installer has replaced my custom version of BootX with the regular version. In that case, simply use XPostFacto to restart back into Mac OS X, with the "Reinstall BootX" option checked in the "Advanced" menu. That may help. |

The same garbed screen upon installing 10.2 affects my PowerbookG3 (original 3500). XPF 2.2.1 install 10.2. Upon restart, the boot screen (gray apple) is all garbled. In verbose mode I can see between the garbled screen something like 'panic(cpu0) unable to find driver for this platform AAPL,3500'. So this problem concerns is on another thread posted before, and I suggest to read and contribute to that thread: ''panic(cpu0) unable to find driver for this platform'' kronos |

im going to try deinterleving the ram and removing the cache will keep you posted. On another note, have you thought about upgrading the forum to have search features? that would make searching for problems a bit easier for new users. bg |

ok did verbose mode. about 1-2 screens of text fly by real fast then it does indeed KP. the top of the screen is garbled still: no debugger configured - dumping debug information and all that jazz another screenshot. lots to type. btw, is this dump valuable? http://www.bgmccollum.com/jag/verbose.jpg bg |

Try holding down command-v as the computer restarts (for verbose mode). It looks like a kernel panic, but the text is garbled. |
