Classic doesn't recognize G3 |

I had Conflict Catcher on my 9.2 Classic partition. Suddenly today CC wouldn't open and I got a "You need a Power PC processor" message. I checked the Classic System Profiler and it's got me on a 68LC040 processor with a speed of 40 MHz (OS 10.2 sys prof correctly states G3 and 400 MHz). The only new software I've installed is the second Oct ATI update, and don't know why that should have affected processor recognition. Booting in 9.2.2 (via OS 9 Helper 10b6) on a different partition from the one I use for Classic, ConflictCatcher works fine and System Profiler lists the G3 processor. Was it some weird fluke that CC worked previously but that it actually shouldn't? I don't think I checked the processor speed before under Classic, so it might be normal that it doesn't recognize the G3. But not even see a Power PC? Anyone know what might be afoot here? Am on a 7300/200 with Newer Tech G3 and two internal drives. Classic is on original 2G drive. |

Which version of XPostFacto are you using? Version 2.2.2 of XPostFacto makes some changes which would affect this. If you are using an earlier version, try getting the latest version (2.2.4 at this moment), and reinstall the extensions to get the new behaviour--I think that it may help. If you are using version 2.2.2 or later, let me know--we'll have to figure out what the problem is. |
