9600 with 512meg mermory (non itnerleaved). XLR8/G4 450. PCI Slots 1:Atto SCSI 2:SIIG 133 IDE Card 3: MacAlly USB/Firewire 4: Fast Ether net Card 5: Radeon 700 6: TV Tuner Card. 18 gig SCSI Drive on the internal SCSI bus with 9.2.2, 80 gig Western Digital on the IDE card with 1 parition with OS X. I finally got OSX 10.2 to install, but I can not get the computer to boot into X, just a black screen. Booted back into 9.2.2 The Start-Up control panel sees the OS X disk as a start up, but when I close the panel down and re-open it, my 9.2.2 is selected as the startup drive again. I have other 9.1 and 9.2 partitions on the intenral SCSI and when thay are selected, they 'hold' and the computer will then boot off of those. Any suggestions? Also with the the throttle control, do I have to re-install all of OS X to get that change. I mean how does throttle get put into the computer with OS X?? Doug PS. Doing this upgrade has been time consuming, but I did discover one thing for certain. On my 9600, I had 512 megs of 64meg matched dimms and 3 128meg dimms (4k refresh) from OWC (I had them bother interleaved and then switched them to non interleaved). I could not for the life of me get 10.2 and Xpost to install - I would get crashes duing intallation either to a black screen with some error #0 or the OS X installer would just say in multi language "Power off your computer" - right inthe middle of the install. I took out the 3 128meg dimms - Presto - the install works. |

The Startup Disk control panel doesn't work to boot into OS X on unsupported machines. You need to use XPostFacto to get from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X. |
