I just discovered that my built-in Apple CD-ROM drive has become a single session only drive under 10.2.0. I can still read multi-session CD-Rs using my external CD burner, so I'm not desperate, but it sure is annoying to have to resort to that drive. The external drive is a Panasonic, and works fine. But strangely not the internal one. How wierd! |

My external Yamaha scsi has always had trouble with CD-RW media under OS X. Toast gives an error message about illegal something or other, while Apple's disk copy fails to initialize or erase. CD-R media works, but not flawlessly (have several coasters). |

I'm not sure why but this odd behavior with CDROM drives has been going on since the beginning of OSX. The early versions would only work if the drive was an Apple Drive. Finally I found my Yahama external would work then with the next upgrade it was no go. I at first thought this was because they were SCSI and all the Apple supported OSX machines had IDE CDrom drives. I have an IDE CD/DVD drive worked fine but suddenly no longer worked with the 10.2.1 upgrade. It is once more working with the 10.2.2 upgrade. The mystery goes on. |
