Hi, I trying to install OS X 10.1 on a basic 7300/200 with 128 Mb RAM. However the installation process stops everytime when the installer shows 'Cleaning up' and 'Time Remaining: less than a minute'. Does anyone have a solution? Kind regards, Edwin |

When I try to view the log of the Installer, I only get the colored spining wheel/reel, after that I cannot do anything anymore, the wheel just keeps spinning. I did install OS X 10.1 on a 7600/200 without any problems one time, so I presume the CD isn't bad. I tried to install OS X with other RAM modules from another machine, however I still have the same problem... Any more options? |

You could try the "Show Log" menu command in the Installer to see whether it will tell you anything more. Sometimes these problems are caused by memory issues. In other cases, it can be a bad CD, or a problem with the hard drive. But most often, it is a RAM problem of some kind. |

Same thing happened to me, possibly because I had installed a larger SCSI drive on my PM7500, which unfortunately, the Apple setup program refused to initialize. My solution was to buy an Acard IDE ATA controller PCI card and an IDE drive that I set up with Apple's disk utility. After that, everything worked fine, except now I am finding threads (I am new here- one day old) that seem to indicate that Acard ATA controllers may have sound output difficulties, but I am still investigating... |
