I got mine by haggling by email with an ebay seller who couldn't sell his at auction (no bids). Got it for $140 + minimal shipping. I was told it was new, and it did come in orig box with all accessories. Never had a problem with video going out on warm reboot (7500, G4/800). Hope reseating the card after removing the screw took care of that problem for you, Krissel. Otherwise, you probably have a flakey card. Just started trying the Castle Wolfenstein or whatever demo tonight (available from Apple's OSX software download page), and noticed it plays pretty smoothly, even on this ancient machine. |

Two things to add. First of all, the XclaimVR 8MB that I removed earlier does work with the Sonnet G4. I put it back in this aft and all is fine. Also put Xlr8Macfire PCI FW and works OK, too with all the other cards. Second...I had a few minutes of angst during one boot while testing the cards when I no longer got any video from my Radeon. Upon investigation I noticed that the screw that holds the card in place on the tower body had actually pulled the card out of the slot slightly. When I removed the screw it was able to sit back down snug in the slot. So now I have fibretape holding it from wiggling. (Still can't boot back to my 10.1.5 partition or install Jag.) |

I've been considering buying another Radeon Mac Edition because I'm not sure if the one I have is going bad or not. Sometimes I don't get a video signal from the card. It only happened occasionally with a CRT but I recently got a Dell E171FP 17" LCD and the video signal flashes on and off during bootup. It sometimes goes out for an instant while I have the machine running. I'm trying to figure out which plist file to delete to start out with new display prefs. I suspect the card rather than the LCD because the LCD runs perfectly when it is attached to my Rage Orion card. I think the VGA port may be going bad. I ordered and received a DVI-VGA adapter from Dr. Bott's online store but the adapter does not fit the DVI-I port on the Radeon card. This adapter is supposed to be DVI-I compatible but it has 4 extra pins that prevent it from attaching to the card's port. I'm going to call Dr. Bott customer service and support on Monday to make sure they sent me the right adapter. Otherwise, I can only conclude that it is intended for the Radeon 7000. I'm tempted to get one of those instead of another Mac Edition Radeon because of the reports of increased performance after the firmware update. Anyone had similar issues with their Radeon and an LCD? |

I've been trying to interpret the pdf manual that I downloaded on this card and it seems as though you can only run one monitor at a time, DVI or VGA. I have an adapter on order and will test it but I don't have my hopes up. The Twin Turbo ran just fine with 10.1.5, as did the Xclaim VR (both 8 MB), however that was when I was running the stock 604e processor in my 9600. Since upgrading to the G4/700 I had to remove the Twin Turbo as it is a known conflict with the new Sonnet cards. I had constant lockups which I initially thought was a RAM problem but a Sonnet tech clued me in to the TT video card. Once I removed my video cards and installed the Radeon it performed just fine. I have yet to put the Xclaim back in to see if that might be able to work but the techie thought it was also a potential problem as well. Unfortunately now I cannot boot back into my X partition since upgrading the processor and cannot install Jag either. I've posted this problem in another thread but haven't received any help as yet. BTW, the loss of signal only occurs on warm restarts and not from a cold boot. |

I think that your card is bad because i have one but i need another for the soon to be Xpostfactoized computer. This card always gives a signal for me, yes it does use 600*800 untill the blue screen pops up. Do you have it selected under the open firware? I think i got this radeon for less than that, I would sooner get the 7000, I just need a card that will make the G3 that is in the computer the choke not the video card.(It is one of the old cards by IX micro, how did your twin turbo run X or did it?) The radeon has DVI-I input on it, so if you need to use analog in both monitors you sould be able to use that unless you can't go duely with the radeon. |

I bought one of these from this store two weeks ago and paid $138+$15 shipping which is ridiculous for a such a tiny box. I must have gotten one of the used ones cause it came in just an antistatic bag with no manufacturer's box or any paperwork except the bill of sale. Was very disturbed by the fact that my entire credit card number had been printed out on the receipt with a black marker run through it in an attempt to blot it out. All you had to do was hold it up to the light and read the number just fine. So much for secure ordering. The card seems to be OK. I did have to try it in a couple slots to get it to respond properly. Two things I did not have with other video cards is the initial screen is in 800x600 format and then switches to the settings I want. The other oddity is it doesn't always send a signal to the monitor on restart . Sometimes I have to turn the monitor off then on again to get the signal. I had to remove my Twin Turbo as well as my XclaimVR card to get the Sonnet G4/700 to work. I need to run two monitors though so I am looking for a really cheap video card that will run just a basic screen for palettes. |

Try here: http://store.yahoo.com/image-solutions/apatiradpcid.html They are going for $158 + Tax (in California), and IMHO steep shipping charges. I called yesterday and they say that the cards are usually new but some may have been used in floor demos at trade shows. |
