I want to create a system CD with Jaguar so that I can repair permissions on my Jaguar partition. I tried making an image of Jaguar, then installing XPF extensions, and finally burning to a CD. This doesn't work. Am I missing something? |

Apple does some interesting things to optimize the boot process on the install CDs that makes it a little difficult to customize them successfully. One thing you can do is use XPostFacto to "pretend" to do an install. You should boot into the Installer, and then you can use the menu to get at the Disk Utility. Once you're done, you can quit out of the Installer, which will give you the option to reboot (hold down the "option" key to get back to Mac OS 9.x). XPostFacto 3 will work with BootCD for booting custom CDs. |

There is also the Repair Permissions utility from Apple which works while booted from the HD. |

Permissions can be repaired from your Jaguar partition without needing a System CD. If you can't boot into your Jaguar partition because of permission problems then boot using the 10.2 Install CD, run the Disk Utility from one of the Installer menus and do Repair Permissions on you Jaguar partition. If it's not possible to that there then it won't be possible to do that on a custom system CD unless you were thinking of using something other than Disk Utility. |
