I have a 7500/100 A/V which I installed a G3/400 Powerlogix card. I have it running in OS X.2. As it runs it just stops and I get this black screen with this data on it. Can someone tell me what this means? Memory access exception (1,0,0) ethernet mac address 00.05.02.80.f4.5c IP address 192.168.1.101 waiting for remote debugger connection option....... type ------------------------- continue...'c' reboot.......'r' continue brings up the same screen while reboot does attempt a restart but it doesn't. I have to do a hard restart and it will come back up. Thanx, |

A lot of people (including myself) have or had the same warm restart problem with the OWC5MD128MB ram. I have an 8600 with 500MHz G3. They say it's 100% compatible with processor upgrades but I think not. The ram works better without the upgrades but the problem can still occur. I would get the RAM exchanged but they make you pay shipping and I don't want my computer to be without the ram for x number of days. Others have gotten their ram replaced and their problem disapeared so I guess there can be good OWC5MD128MB dimms (although maybe they save those for people who complain). Anyway, the ram is good except I have to press control-command-powerkey a couple times everytime I want to restart. |

If the drive is the only one on the chain, and it is the internal SCSI chain, then, yes, it does have to be terminated on the drive, and it seems that OS X is more sensitive to SCSI termination issues than OS 9 is. |

You are correct, There is other data on the screen. As soon as I get my batteries charged I will try to take a shot of the screen. You seem to know your way around OS X pretty well. I have one 7500/100 A/V running now and did not have this much trouble with it. This machine has been nothing but trouble. Two things are different. The hard drive and the ram. This machine will not do a soft restart at all. It only bongs 1/2 of the start up chime and gets cut off in the middle. Could this all be a ram problem since the ram is significantly different? Micromat's Drive 10 shows ram to be good. So does Mac Test Pro in OS 9.1 I bought both at Other World Computing but this ram is OWC5MD128MB, fast page mode but NOT EDO. My original computer runs great and I'm running this ram, OWC5MD128MBE, EDO but not fast page. The other possibility can be the hard drive needs terminated at the drive. ??? Thanx for the help. |

Basically, this is a kernel panic--it either indicates a bug in Mac OS X, or some problem with your hardware. There should be more text with it, such as the PC and LR, and the backtrace, and a list of kernel extensions and their load addresses. The best way to figure these things out is just to copy down all that information (unfortunately, there aren't any shortcuts, unless you have a digital camera). |
