Version 2.2.5b6 is now available. It should once again work with the ATTO SCSI cards. That support was broken with some changes that I made in version 2.2.5b4 and 2.2.5b5. However, I don't happen to have one of the ATTO cards to test with, so you'll have to tell me whether this works or not :-) Here's the URL: http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/Download/XPostFacto2.2.5b6.sit |

Thanks, I've tracked down the problem--there was a flaw in my algorithm for calculating NVRAM space needed. I'll get it fixed. I suppose that I could set things up so that XPostFacto always abbreviates the OF names. Well, except in the case of the UltraTek cards, where it causes an obscure problem. |

Sometimes that verbose thing works fine. Try playing with both Verbose and Single User Mode to reproduce the problem. There must be something wrong with the free space calculation algorithm. Does XPostFacto subtract the length of the old values before adding the length of the values it will replace them with? Maybe there is some kind of update problem. Should XPostFacto even bother with using long names? |

2.2.5b6 seems to work but there is one strange thing. The boot-device and output-device are abbreviated when verbose mode is off but not when it is on. Somehow, adding -v also adds the long names... Also I noticed that the Radeon 7000 _A and _B output-device menu items now note the connector VGA and DVI respectively. The connectors are correct only if both have a monitor connected. _A can be either the VGA, DVI, or TV if only one monitor is connected. In the name registry (OS 9.1 with latest ATI stuff) for _A and _B there is a property called "display-type" which is a CString that can be either "TV", "CRT", or "NONE" (I don't have a digital flat screen to see what the value with that would be). There is another property called "my_default" which is a CString that can be "CRT1" for VGA port, "CRT2" for DVI port (analog), "TV" for the video-out port or "No" for no port. Again, I don't know what the value would be if a digital flat screen was connected to the DVI port. For TV, there is a property called "TBSense" which is a single byte and can be 01 for composite and 02 for s-video. |

Good job Ryan! This fixes the ATTO boot problem for me. It gives a boot-device of pci1/ ATTO,ExpressPCIProUL2D@D,1/@0:6 Of course I changed it to pci1/@D,1/@0:6 just to make it smaller. Radeon 7000 still looking good. I will try the Tempo Trio once again later tonight. Will let you know the progress. |
