Installed OS X using XPostFacto and OS 9.2.2 using OS 9 Helper on a PPC8600. OS X runs OK, but when trying to start Classic, I get "Resource Update Error" and only a Quit in the dialog. Anyone have a similar problem or any ideas? |

Did you check the console app for errors that might tell what file is causing the problem? One problem that might occur is if this folder /System/Library/CoreServices/Classic Startup.app/Contents/Resources/ UniversalForks/ does not contain the same list of files in these two folders /System/Library/CoreServices/Classic Startup.app/Contents/Resources/ English.lproj/SystemFiles/ and /System/Library/CoreServices/Classic Startup.app/Contents/Resources/ English.lproj/SystemFiles/OptionalFiles/ which might happen if you look at any of those folders with the OS 9 Finder which will create an invisible icon folder in the folder causing a difference to occur. (If your system doesn't use english then replace English.lproj in the paths above with the folder name used by your system's language). Use ls in the terminal to check those folders. Make sure there are no extra invisible files in those folders. What Classic is trying to do is combine the resorces of files with the same name in each of the above mentioned folders to make a Classic Compatibility Environment extension or control panel to replace an older extension or control panel in your OS 9 folder. |

Update: It appears that Carbon programs no longer run. The error when I try to start a Carbon program is a shared library error: <> How can this be fixed without reinstalling? |

Forgot to add that the Quit dialog also said: "An error was encountered while attempting to update your system folder with Classic-specific resourses" |
