I'm running a 8600 G4/800 512mb RAM, Radeon 7000, Asante 10/100 card and an Orange Micro Firewire card. After updating to the latest version of OS 10, the only applications launching are Mail, Sherlock, Address Book, and Disk Utility. All others will launch for a second flash in the Dock and then quit. I have tried reinstalling the apps with no luck, the installers won't launch either. What can I do without doing a complete reinstall of the OS. Also, on another note, the startup time is very long over 3 minutes Joe |

You might try checking the system log to see whether it was recording any errors. It is at /var/log/system.log (or /private/var/log/system.log, if you are looking from Mac OS 9). It sounds as though it was some kind of problem with the disk. |

Update #2 Unfortunately the file copy corrupted the target drive on the 8600. I am going to recover the drive and try the file copy in OS 9.1. The drive configuration on the 8600 is 2 SCSI 4GB drives, a Sony DAT drive and a AGFA scanner on the external SCSI bus. I checked all terms and they are correct. Joe |

Update #1 When trying to copy a file from another machine to the 8600, the file gets about halfway then locks the 8600 up hard. I was attempting to copy the OS 10.2.3 update to the 8600 from a 7600 running OS 10.2.3. No idea Joe |
