getting Jag to recognize an ADB connected printer |

I'm using an upgraded j700 with an Epson 740 inkjet directly connected through the ADB (?) connection. It worked fine in 9, and I think X.1.5 (if I recall correctly) but Jaguar doesn't recognize it through Rendezvous or any other protocol. I don't want to connect it through USB because I have my G4 connected to it by USB. Any way of getting Jag to find it through any of it's other printer connection protocols? Andrew |

Yes, serial not ADB - my mistake. Thanks for the info! It does indeed have a Parallel port. I'll give that a shot. Thanks! |

You are correct about that. The only serial port hardware known to work is Modems. IF they can be made to work so should printers...more then one person has said this is do too Apple not wanting it to work and holding back info. |

There really should be a way to support this printer serially via Gimprint as well, since it was certainly a possible config under linux.... Kind of annoying... |

That is a serial port not ADB. Does the Epson 740 have a Parallel printer port for use with a PC? If so you can get a cheap USB to Parallel cable and use it as a USB printer on the Mac in Jaguar. You will also need Gimp print for Mac OSX which is a free download.Jaguar is needed for Gimp print. Follow the great info that comes with it and away you go. I'm using with my Umax J700 in Jaguar and an Epson 850 which only has Parallel and serial ports. Will S |
