I've noticed that if I cold boot OS X, the machine will not startup OSX. I need to boot up w/ OS 9.1 then use XPF to select the OSX volume. This is a royal pain. Is there any fix for this? Is there an OF problem/patch for this? TIA. |

Is there any thing I can do to change the NVRAM? I've successfully used the SystemTools OF app to make my older powercenter 150 cold boot into Debian Linux. Is there such a work around w/ OSX? The OF on the 8600 is 'broken' anyways...something about the video is not set up correctly. I read this in www.penguinppc.org. They offered a solution, which was to use the System Tool OF application to patch the OF. Could this be done w/ OSX? |

It's a problem that seems to have a variety of causes. I "fixed" it in one of my machines by switching video cards! It looks like changing just about anything has some chance of succeeding. |

I lost the cold boot via Sonnet Tempo ATA100 after I upgraded my 8600/200 to XLR8 G4 450. Warm boot is OK and I can cold boot via SCSI drives but I prefer IDE for its 2x speed compared to the internal 10MB/s SCSI... |

I had this problem with my 8500 for a while. The way I fixed it was that I made sure that my SCSI drive (which was where my OS9/classic system was) was at a high SCSI ID #. My config at the time was that I had my X on an IDE drive on a Tempo card. When I changed the SCSI drive ID to 6, I cold booted every time to X. Stephen |

Hi TIA, I had the same situation with my 8500/G4/400 and it was solved by formatting the volume fresh with Hard Disk Speed Tools and using HDST-driver too. When I tried it with Apples tooles and driver I could only boot over OS 9 and XPF. Did you try XPostFacto 2.2.5b7? uwe |

I believe I read in one string that Ryan said this is going to be in the next version of XPF |
