Hey people first post! Anyway, my question is about the above ATA card and any issues you have run across with running OS X in an old system. I have done a test install of 10.2.3 on an external SCSI drive in a PowerTower 180c. The biggest issue seemed to be the audio stutter because of the PCI bus timing issue, is there a work around for it under X? Also, should I expect any issues booting X from a drive on the ATA bus of the card? Thanks for any info you can give and I hope I can help you out in the future. |

I have not experienced this problem with either the Sonnet card or the Acard ATA/133 it replaced. One thing that does kill sound in both OSX and OS 9.x.x is playing some Quicktime movies. I don't know what it is about the one's that cause this problem but when I get one that is bad this way I have to reboot to get sound back. The odd thing is that if I open the offending movie in Final Cut Pro or iMovie then it plays fine. |

Thanks for the feedback on the cards! Does anybody have feedback on the audio/video stutter issue? |

A lot of people are booting from ATA cards. I am booting from a Sonnet ATA/100 card. I have a Power Tower Pro and this hardware has worked pefectly for me. My card is based on the UltraTek chipset also. In Apple System Profiler it is reported as an UltraTek100. |
