I use a 7500 with a G3 Sonnet, 416MB Ram, a tempo card and a tango card. When booting up in 9.2.2 my applevision 1710 monitor light comes on but then turns off. I then have to manually shut off the monitor because it won't recycle back on. I've already selected the Radeon as an output device in XPosto. I don't have the problem in OSX2.3. The monitor turns on, then shuts off but than when the blue screen is ready to pop up the monitor turns back on. I'm ok with the way it boots in OSX but I would like it to turn on automatically in 9.2.2. Do other monitors have the same boot up problems or maybe it's just my monitor. |

You can fix the black screen on OSX boot by booting back to 8 and then when you start up XPF go to the advanced menu (expert maybe?), and specify the ATI a as your ouput... Then select your OSX startup drive and reboot and you should see the gray apple logo. Of course you might have some problem doing that if you can't get video in 9 :~> Marty |

i have this same on/off problem with my 1710 and experienced the same glitch with a 1705: i suspect a bug in the ATI software. |

I have a ColorSync 20 connected to a Power Mac 8600 with the ADB cable. It does not have Geometry controls. I wonder how easy it would be to fix that? There is mention of the controls in IOGraphicsFamily. There is an AppleADBDisplay.kext but it does not have support for geometry controls. I made a program a long time ago that dumps ADB input and output in OS 9 which could be used to get the necessary ADB commands for the monitor. Stick it all together and you might have the beginnings of another OS X project to put on someone's to do list... One problem with AppleADBDisplay.kext is that it won't attach it to the display device if the monitor sense codes don't work (ie. the monitor is connected to a Radeon 7000). That is not a problem for the built-in video ("control"). I also have an AppleVision 1710 but it suffers from the black screen of death syndrome. Another problem with AppleADBDisplay.kext is that if both the 1710 and the ColorSync are connected by ADB, then the 1710 causes AppleADBButtons.kext to load instead of AppleADBDisplay.kext. |

Thanks Marty. I have the ADB cable hooked to the computer. How would I hook it to the monitor. The 15pin gets hooked to the Radeon and the ADB gets hooked to the computer. Thanks for your help. I could have sworn I have geometry contols in 10. I'll check your link to see if your answer is clearer there. |

Make sure in OS9 you have the ADB cable hooked to the monitor if it supports that function... I think this might help. Also see: http://www.lowendmac.com/roadapples/1710.shtml Marty PS No geometry controls in 10 though right? |
