Hmm, this is rather unusual... and I need to figure out what is happening before I attempt another install of 10.2.4 The symptoms are the Apple screen with lots of horizontal white lines, very much a lockup shortly before Quartz comes up. I am using a joeCard G4 with the PowerLogix Cache software (easier to get up and running than the current utility from Ryan, especially when you don't need a reboot when you install). 10.2.3 and under ran just fine... the last line in verbose mode seems to show a line of a script, and an error: SystemHangup ${} ${} I tend to run 10.2 with RAM write-thru disabled as well. |

I installed the 10.2.4 upgrade on top of my Sonnet G4/800 Jaguar 10.2 system and it didn't make it through the process, killing the 10.2 system. I started fresh with a clean install of 10.2, then applied the 10.2.4 upgrade with success (I had to use the Sonnet installer since I haven't had success with XPF). After installing all my programs, I started getting constant freezes and damage to the HD. It made my OS9 system look really stable in comparison! Looks like it time to go back to 10.2 or try 10.2.3.....10.2.4 is way too buggy on my old world set-up. I get this sneaky feeling that Apple continues to try and kill off the unsupported upgrade clan so we will buy new hardware. Believe me, if I had the bucks I wouldn't be messing around with all the tinkering it takes to keep ahead of the quirks. Marshall |
