I am having problems getting mac OS X to boot up on the Sonnet card. I have been running OS X on the 350 MHz 604e card for about six months with out any problems. I am using XPF 2.2.5. when I restart. All I get is blank screen. I have tried everything I can think of that might be causing the problem. The only PCI card is the stock video card that came with the machine. The machine does have a large amount of memory. All Dimms are not interleaved. I have tried various combinations. All is 60 nanosec. I have 3 128MB from OWC, 2 64MB Techworks, and 2 32mb Apple that came with the machine. I have run tests on the memory and get no errors. I did get one message in verbose mode: can't load from this device? with the sonnet card. The sonnet card works fine with OS 9.1 I am out of Ideas, I have stripped the machine down to stock and still no luck. The machine still will boot into OS X with the stock card but not with the Sonnet upgrade. does any one have any ideas? Thanks |

You probably have this solved by now, but I have a 9500 that I upgraded with the same Sonnet G4/700 card. Originally I had two IXMicro cards installed. Even before X was installed, as soon as I put the G4 card in, I would get one blue screen and one green screen and no hard drive activity. One of the IXMicro cards WAS the Twin Turbo, and on a whim I took it out first. The machine then booted up but only in shades of green. I still had my original ATI card and an obscure Diamond Javelin, so I pulled the IXMicro Ultimate Rez and put those older cards in, and the machine booted fine! So the G4's are definately incompatible with the IXMicro cards. All this was PRE-OS X, so it has nothing to do with X, just the G4. I immediately ordered the Mac Radeon 7000 which worked great. Then, after reading about flashing the PC Radeon 7000's here in these forums, I bought one of those and succeeded in getting it to work with my 19 inch monitor. So I now have two Radeon 7000's (one Mac and one PC) running 3 monitors and all is well. Even the OS X screen savers are a smooth as silk. Tom |

I tried different throttle setting but no change. Sonnet did say that it might be the twin turbo video card |

Did you try the throttling setting in XPF? |
