are there drivers for my voodoo 3 2000 card that will work in X? In 9, minus the drivers, the video crawls. Guess if I get my cdrom issue fixed, I'll find out what the video will be like in X myself. If anyone knows abt drivers, pls post |

I've got the drivers for 9.. I just meant without any drivers it is really slow, so wondered what it would be like in X without drivers. Thing is, I don't have built-in video on the powertowerpro. The voodoo is my only vid card. Will have to pick up an ati of some kind I guess. I'll look into marc's suggestion abt a rage 7000... thx! |

I had my Voodoo 3 2000 card running for months in OSX in my PM8500 with a G4upgrad until I recently switched over to an ATI. I did not do anything special such as drivers etc. Key things to keep in mind 1) you may still need to boot from the built in video and use Monitors to switch to the Voodoo. 2) There isno 3d acceleration for lack of drivers but that should not affect movies. You should have no problems with OS9.1. There are Voodoo drivers which you can find in maC3dfx.com. If you want to upgrade to 9.2.1 0r 9.2.2 you must downgrade Open GL to the same versioin as that which came with 9.1 ( Open GL 1.4.1 if my memeory serves me right). Sridhar |

Lexxel, I installed my voodoo 3 2000 PCI card last night and I am sorry to say that OS X does not see it. I would concider geeting a rage 7000, see the discussion on Flashing a PC version to work with a Mac. Marc |
