I have successfully installed 10.0.3 on my 9500, and would like to upgrade to 10.1 via the upgrade cd that I got from OWC. I've searched this forum for clues, and tried everything I can think of, to no avail. Someone please tell me if I've missed something really obvious! |

As the italians say: "Faagetaboutit!!" For some reason unbeknownst to me, XPF has suddenly had a change of heart about the OS X Update cd and now admits that it actually DOES have OS X installed and is an actual INSTALLER!!! Repeatedly last night it would gray out the INSTALL button when I selected that disk as my source, saying that OS X wasn't installed. It would only let me RESTART into the OS 10.0.4 partition that I already had. I had previously been able to select that cd as my source, but had crashed while booting up. Then suddenly it wouldn't even let me select it!! Today, it worked as before--it would attempt to boot from the Update cd, but crashed on the line: IOCatalogue: com.macsales.iokit.patchedNDRVsupport cannot be loaded. I then attempted it again using XPF 2.2b1 that I downloaded last night (IT did the same thing last night as 2.2.5 was doing), but today IT WORKED!! It is still installing as I write this on my Windoze machine (but it's taking forever to install!!). So a word to the wise: don't try to install from OS 10.1 Update cd onto a PM9500 using XPF 2.2.5!! And if the danged thing gets uncooperative, give up earlier than I did (I fiddled with it until 4 in the morning) and try it again the next day! |
