I'm going to guess You will have better luck installing OSX using the on board video with the ixmicro card removed. The other ixmicro card the Twin turbo on the other hand works fine for installing. This is more then a guess. I know the twin Turbo card works and I know many people had problems using the Ultima Rez. How every a few people did get it to work. but then there are more then one versions of the Ultima Rez. The good news is the Ultima Rez can be put back in and used after you get OSX installed and running. As far as I know all the old posts are here and can be looked at. Sure a search tool would be good but we don't have one. Chances are your question has been answered before.( In fact I'm sure of it. That doesn't mean there is an exact answer to your question but hints can be found ) OSX Gurus isn't a full time guy. More experienced installers are likely busy using OSX and have moved on. I for one have gotten a bit tired of the same old questins being asked time after time ;-) Your other bitching about no help is off base and likely puts people off . It did get me to try and help but only once DUDE! Getting OSX to run on an unsupported machine isn't always an easy thing to do. In fact most of the time it's a pain! It's not possible to give exact answers as to what will work. The reason being everyones machine is a bit different. A cd player changed to a non APPLE brand can often stop things from working. Some people have switched to using FWB for formatting their hard drive is another deal breaker. The list is endless and we have far from a complete list from you. You didn't mention ATA PCi card brand and model etc . Last but not least some peoples computer skills simply aren't up to the task of doing this no matter how much email help we give them. I know as I was one of the first to install OSX on an unsupported machine! Even wrote my own code before Ryan did his.In fact it was rolled into Ryans sometime ago. Best of luck Will S |

The forums are not visited as frequently on Sundays. Sometimes one has to wait. To your problem. What flavor of X are you installing? Installation usually goes best with onboard video and ATI cards. Many problems with others especially if there are no OS X drivers available on the install disc. An early panic can also be a memory problem. OS X is much more picky about memory. Though 128 probably enough for this to work, 256 or more would be better. Flavor of ATA card would be helpfull. Is this the 66 or 133 and what firmware? The more info you can give us the more help that will be available. |

You need to post a lot more than you have on the Panic because all that realy says is that you have had a panic but it would usualy say why, I probably could not pick the problem out of the whole mess but some people here can. and this post has only been up for less than a day. |

what it is a valid question posted by a paying user of this forum. by your own admission others have felt in a similar way. maybe by now some permanent posts giving "some" guidence is warranted. |
