PPC8600 w/PowerForce 400 G3 and IBM Ultrastar 73LZX 36 GB drive at ID 0. Using XPF OS X.2 installed on a 24 GB partition, incuding the set-up, but when rebooting the drive just hung. When trying to start with XPF, the drive just hangs. I have used XPF to reinstall Bootx and Extensions, but drive still hangs. The original 2GB SCSI is at ID 4. Any ideas? |

Was the 'IBM Ultrastar 73LZX' formatted with drivers from 9.0.4? Somewhere in this forum I recall the need to use the drivers from 9.1. Anyone recall? - mitch |

The major problem is the IBM Ultrastar 73LZX 36 GB drive will not boot from XPF. Does the fact that it cannot be terminated make a difference? I have been able to install OS X.2 on the original 2GB hard disk, but that is not enough space for OS X.2 |

I have a very similar config. Try and install OS10 onto your original 2GB disk (unless that's doing service as your OS9.x boot disk). My OS10 is on a 2GB partition on a 4GB disk and my OS 9.0.4 is on the original 2GB disk. Just for safety, check your RAM (with Gauge Pro or similar under 9). I had the devil's own time installing 10 because of a 64MB chip that seemed ok under 9.0.4. Hope this helps. |

I did a minimum install so it did not ask for disk 2. It then went into the set-up asking for the normal info. I am wondering if it is a hard disk problem. |

Are you booting into verbose mode to give you a little more info? It may be something simple or maybe more a software issue that will require a reinstall of the OS. To clarify, were you able to install 10.2 sucessfully with your present setup and then the problem or did the problem occur when it was time to install from Disc 2. Many installs have stalled at that point. |
