It seems to me that any forum that cost money would be able to provide at least ONE response. I've posted 4 since I wasted my money hear and have heard nothing. pretty sad. |

The forum has been helpful to me in some ways.. like the radeon flash idea... but I must say that my questions about my powertowerpro went for the most part unanswered... then, after I had figured out what to do from reading the help section on the XPF site, and I sucessfully installed X, I posted my results. I then got a response with ideas which totally would have answered my earlier questions. Obviously my problems with my powercomputing clone were addressed before at some point, maybe more than once, long ago. With a search feature, I likely could have found those answers. I know $10US isn't a lot of money, but I think when paid support is offered, for whatever price, people come in with expectations. Had the tech support forum been described as an "unsearchable user message board" I would have likely never joined. But I have gained some useful knowlegde about other stuff, so I am glad of that. |

I do not believe this forum is a waste of money. $10 is what, a decent DVD Rental nowadays? It's not like they want $60. And if you don't get a response, well, people don't know the answer to your question. I wish I was almighty and allknowing too. But none of us are. We are all for the most part on the same end as you, phil, the users. If you want your problems fixed ASAP, Talk to OS X Guru and see if you can pick up on the programming. Otherwise, things take time. And anyhow. If I ever did see this forum as a waste (I have had a few unanswered questions, but they were all user-error and I fixed them), its not the $10. XPostFacto is FREE. Yes, FREE. I believe we should have all paid the $10 to XPF anyways- the program is incredably helpful and has probobly survived because of our $10 donations. I would have NEVER gotten my Powerbase 200 system where it is today- a full time 467mhz G3 /160mb RAM as a full time system. So if this forum is to waste, well. At least your $10 helps keep XPF Alive. At least you can run OS X on your oldworld. |

Just scrolled thru 20 pages back to Jan. Five posts by 'phil', and all have responses. What are you really talking about? |

I feel this forum is worth the money but only if you keep on top of all messages daily. Without a search feature, people will reinvent the wheel. Lack of a search feature is the most frustrating thing using this board. I hope the webmasters implement it soon, or just buy a copy of UBB and migrate to that. |

No one has all of the right answers. I also check things on the Apple forum. Some one almost always comes through with some thing usefull. If you have a 1 or 2 or $3,000 Mac $10 isn't so much. |

Phil, Not getting an answer can be frustrating (SP) or even worse an answer that is of no help or sends you down the wrong rabbit path, I had a problem that no one seemed to have an answer for but in the course of the dialoge I was able to realize I had made an error in an install. I would rabidly jump online to check the forum almost hourly most often to no avail. I like many others would like to see this forum searchable because it could be that you recieved no answer because it had been handled extensively at an earlier time. I have found this forum more than worth the small investment. Good luck |

Phil, I am sorry you feel that way. I believe that the forum is really a form for ideas, and with all ideas sometimes there is not a good answer. If you have not had a reply it may be that you are the first one trying to install OS X on that machine. Everything here is alot of guess work on what will make your machine work, no one here has your machine. They may have machines like it but not the one you are using. People try but it takes time. To give an example, It took me almost a month to get OS X installed on my PowerWave and sometimes the forum helped and other times it just gives ideas to explore. I still to this day do not know why my Lite-on 52X24X52X CD burner will not work with the Accard/Siig ATA 133 card but I finally got a USB 2.0 external case and my problems went away. I hope your adventure works out Marc P.S. Just the Radeon 7000 flash trick was worth the $10 for me, It saved me $90.00 and I have a 1995 machine that can use quartz extreme. |
