I have my 7300 running 10.2.4 set up for 3 Users. After it boots the Log On screen comes up and a User can be selected to log in. Suddenly and Mysteriously there has appeared an "Other" user that can be selected. This "Other" allows log in under any of the other 3 Users that I had setup, by entering name and password. Yet, this "Other" does not show up under Accounts in the System Prefs. Any ideas how this ocurred and how I can delete him/her? |

Thanx again folks. I logged in as "root" - fortunately I didn't change the password - and disabled the root user. The "Other" has disappeared. Damn, I'm gonna have to educate myself; this OS is deep............ m. |

The menu in netinfo is Security. Once you authenticate you will see an option in the same menu to disable the root user. |

This is generally what you have to do. You have to go into the netinfo manager and select users and then select the root user. There should be an authentication menu at the top of your screen if I remember correctly. Open that and select authenticate. I haven't looked in there for a while and I'm still at work but from there you should be able to disable root. |

I'm not 100% sure but I think it has to do with having root enabled. |

KailMusic, I found that once I configured root the 'Other' appeared. This is so you can log into the machine as root using the Pick window. Nickis |
