I downloaded the new System 10.2.4 and my sound problems went away. I still don't have a sound volume window when I increase or decrease the volume from my monitor but at least it the sound is consistently staying on. I used to have sound when I first booted X then after a few minutes the sound would go away if I did anything to interupt it like surfing the web. I know this has been a big problem for a lot of people. I use a 7500 with a Sonnet G3 (500MHz), 466M Ram, a Tempo card, a Tango card and an ATI 7000. Everything now seems to be working great. |

Sorry, 10.2.4 CAUSED my sound problems; or, if you prefer, I didn't have any until I installed it. |

Not for me either. (Different problem: Sound mostly OK, but on DivX and on certain MPEGs so extremely soft, that it is hardly understandable.) No difference at all in 10.2.4. Richard |
