Recently I've begun to experience this along with random sytem crashes and freezes. The streaking is most prominent to the right of a line of text (or high contrast area). It is not my graphics card because the problem exits without it. Could it be RAM? I suspect that it's my processor upgrade, but I'm unable to test this since I no longer have the original processor. 8600 with XLR G4/400 and ATI Radeon PCI running 10.2.4 |

The streaks could be your processor upgrade, but this is unlikely since it happens with and without a video card. Generally, processor upgrades only have caused screen artifacts with onboard video. The streaking sounds like a bad VGA cable between your computer and monitor. Try flexing the cable at the two plug ends and see if the picture changes at all. I have had video problems like the ones you describe caused by the cable (in my case VGA -> BNC) The video cable however has nothing to do with your crashes. Good Luck |

if the system crashes are often then you might try changing you L2 cache enabler, there was a Huge thread about the crashes a while ago, everyone thought it was RAM but, to me, that seemed unlikely because people were getting different ram from different manufactuers and were retuning it getting new ram that did not fix the problem so i went off trying different things and the cache enabler was the problem in the end. I never saw line in the picture, maybe that is you monitor, try lowering te contrast ratio a little and see what happens. Good Luck |
