XPostFacto becomes corrupt after first use |

Hi All- This is my first post to the forum and I searched (briefly) for a similar topic. Thanks to Ryan and company for success in getting Jaguar to run successfully on my S900 from 9.2.2. I spent my first day in 10.2.4 and booted back into 9.2.2. Everything worked smoothly, better than I ever expected. My problem came about when I tried to reboot into X via XPostFacto. It froze my machine when I clicked to open it. I downloaded another copy after having no success with unstuffing the original download. (the corruption is probably in my sys folder) The download got me back into X. The next time I rebooted into 9.2.2 all was good except that the Jaguar disk no longer showed. Using DiskWarrier enabled the Jaguar drive to show on the desktop again. When I clicked on XPostFacto... a system freeze again. So, does anyone have an idea on this. Is it instability because I'm using 9.2.2 with XPostFacto? Thanks in advance for any help. dan_A |

Hi Dan- Much easier than that- just open the "OS 9 Helper" utility, and tick the "old world firewire support" box at the bottom. It will install the patch without further intervention, I hope and think everything will be OK then- Duane |

Dan - Just launch OS9 helper again and select "Install Old World Firewire Support". Deselect any other options and install. This will solve your freezing problem. |

Hi Duane_ Wow. I hope you hit it on the head, it sure sounds like it. I remember reading about the fire wire thing. I don't use it so I ignored it. Now that I already have 9.2.2 installed via OS9 helper, can I just go into the extensions and control panels and replace all the fire wire inits with those from a 9.1 installation? Or do some other things have to be changed? Or is there another technique that I can use? dan_A |

Hi- I had what sounds like the identical problem, and it was solved by the following list posting: RE: No XPF control panel March, 18, 2003Â 1:35 PM bralston . Did you upgrade to 9.2.2 using my OS9Helper utility? If so, make sure you select the "Install OldWorld FireWire" support selection. There is some weird timing issue that this resolves...I have had the same problem. -Ben www.os9forever.com XPF ran like gangbusters for me after following Ben's advice- Duane Bluhm |

If the opinion of this list is that 9.2.2 might be the problem I can try 9.1 which I have on another drive. But 9.2.2 has been running with great stability and when I added Jaguar it seemed ok when I used for classic. It seems that XPostFacto itself is only good for one shot??? dan_A |

I'm running the combo 922/X on my 9600 without ANY problems. (922 used as bootable system as well as being used for Classic.) Mike |

I don't see the appeal of 9.22 and I continue to run 9.1 which works fine from both classic and startup. Marty |
