Has anyone had any success in getting an Acard ATA/133 to recognize an ATAPI CDR or DVD-ROM? Since OSX recognizes drives attatched to this card as SCSI drives I'm not too sure if it was going to work or not. Im looking to add an inexpensive DVD-Rom to my 9500. Im using 10.2.4 and its included drivers for the card. |

The Acard 6280M is what I have also. The Tempo 100/133 cards do indeed use the promise chip. Acard makes great gear. That's why I didn't sell off the 6280M. |

My card is a Acard AEC-6280M that I purchased new from OWC. I've been pretty satisfied with its performance, although the placement of the drives is a pain with the Daystar case Im using...it was designed with SCSI in mind, and I can only use one connector on each cable. From what I have heard before, I think the Sonnet Tempo 133 might use a different chip than the Acard (I seem to remember that the 133 card uses a Promise chipset) Cheers |

What is the manufacturer of the card. Acard, SIIG?. I used an Acard ATA/133 and had a Toshiba SD-R1202 DVD/CD-RW attached to it. It worked fine but I had to edit the device plugin file for Toshiba drives to add the support for it that has since been included with Jaguar. It is fully supported by Disc Burner and iTunes now. I still had to install a patch for the DVD player to work with the drive attached to that card. It should work with just a little extra tweaking as I've indicated above. The Sonnet Temp ATA/100 and 133 cards are better choices I think because drives attached to them are properly recognized as either ATA or ATAPI devices. That's what I'm using now. |
