XPostFacto works with FWB CDROM Toolkit? |

I've successfully installed Jaguar on my Powerlogix G3 upgraded 7600 but now that I'm trying to install OS X Server I'm running into a problem. When I use XPostFacto to choose the OS X Server install CD the system reboots but spits out the CD and refuses to boot from it no matter what I try. Could it be because I'm using FWB CDROM toolkit's drivers for my Sony CDROM Drive? Is it something else? Note: Apple's driver won't recognize the drive. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! 7600(Powerlogix G3) 256 Megs RAM 3 HD's (one with 9.2.2, one with OS 10.2, one for OS 10.2 Server) USB card 10/100 ethernet card ACARD IDE PCI card |

I bought a so-called Apple OEM 12x SCSI CD-ROM on eBay, and it works well. It is definitely not a branded drive, though. All that it says on the drive is that there is no original warranty and that it is a Matsushita mechanism. It is a far cry nicer than the old, noisy 4x and it only cost about $15. Keep your eyes out, as I think it is a pretty good value. |

I think so. As long as the IDE interface is available at boot time (i.e., no drivers are loaded during bootup as in FWB's case) you should be OK. OS X will load Apple's CD driver and it should be able to find your Apple CD device. |

I don't think you can use a CD drive that Apple's driver won't recognize. FWB's drivers won't be loaded by OS X Server - it will attempt to load Apple's drivers but they can't recognize your drive. A good way to determine if this is the problem is to get your hands on an Apple-branded CD drive. Bet that'll work. |
