The on-again/off again relationship with my Yamaha/LaCie external CD/RW drive and jaguar is now on again after some luck last night. I installed 10.2.5 over the weekend and then tried again to install El Gato's SCSI Helper, but as in 10.2.4 it was no go. Then last night, while tracing down another fault I remembered I hadn't optimized OS X in some time, so I ran System Optimizer X for the first time in a couple of months. The program told me there was a new version, Version 4, so I downloaded and installed it, then ran both a System Maintenance and then Optimization, then restarted. Just for fun I turned on the LaCie as I rebooted. I was quite happy when the CD that was in the LaCie showed up on the desktop! And iTunes recognizes it, plus it also recognized a CD-R I popped into the drive. Tests with Disc Burner and Toast yet to come..... I guess when I ran Optimizer X it must have deleted or fixed the file that was causing the trouble getting the LaCie to grok with OS X. Try it if you have the same problem, it certainly won't hurt.... |
