I have an 8600 that I put a g4 450 in. Works fine. Installed Ipsofacto and osx and works fine, using usb to parralell printer using ghostwriter and gimpprint. Works fine. I have an old Laserwriter 360 with a 8 pin serial port and would like to print from revised mac. I bought an entrega usb to serial adapter however they went under and there is no driver for it for osx. does anyone know of a way that I can use this? Some generic usb to serial drive for osx or something. I suppose I can get another usb to parallel a printer cable and use it but I would really like to use the usb to serial adapter since I have already bought it and I an using my compact parallel port to print to the laserwriter. Any idea will be much appreciated. Thanks |

You should be able to use gimpprint to go directly through the built in serial port (on the old mac) to the serial port on the 360... Assuming you want a serial connection. Local talk is a no go from OSX, although you could go from ethernet to Localtalk with any of the various boxen that do that (asante/farallon) or with an old mac running the laserwriter bridge control panel. Good Luck, Marty |
