There is some talk at MacFIxit about the differences between smaller incremental updaters and the combo updater. Seems the recommendation is to apply the larger combo updater as a precaution, since it is more complete in updating and fixing all components of any install. 10.2.6 probably is the last update before Panther anyway. http://www.macfixit.com/index.php?date=2003-05-07 |

After updating my 7300 with crescendo G4 800 to10.2.5, my ISDN modem wouldn't work any more and the system was rather unstable. I tried everything, nothing worked. Then I remembered that crazy, hard to believe story about combos being better than incrementals. I tried the combo and: all problems were gone! Richard |

Yes sometimes if your system is acting strange, reapplying the apropo COMBINED update can be a quick fix... Unless your stranded and your a dial up (G_d forbid)... Marty |

This has been a longstanding recommendation from Apple. I always run the combo udater after the incremental update as soon as it is available. This is usually the next day after the incremental release. |
