Ryan's L2CacheConfig is in either /System/Library/Extensions/ and/or /Library/ StartupItems. Best thing if you wish to disable it is move the Cache Config directories to ~root or ~. But if you're not comfortable with the shell, leave it for now. I'm surprised that XLR8's utility doesn't print anything. |

Ah it suddenly came clear...you mean this? Well eh... I think not everything is running smooth. I don't see the xlr8 stuff and there are several things that cannot be found.. I do see something about L2CacheConfig which I installed before but I don't know howe to remove that. I must say starting up takes several minutes before even the screen lights up. I, too, am using L2CacheConfig with my Powerlogix G4/450 card in my 8600. I also have a 9600 with the Sonnet G4/800 card. Can the Sonnet X tune-up be 1) used with non Sonnet cards, and 2) does it take the place of cache progroms, such as L2CacheConfig and Powerlogix's Cache Control? TIA. --Dwight |

Yeah, you can launch textedit and open the file /var/log/system.log. |

Well, you'd need to look at /var/log/system.log. For instance, Sonnet's cache prints out its statistics right after using 2293 buffer headers and 2293 cluster IO buffer headers |

I don't know. 2.6.1 in 9.1 does, it's the first extention that appears on the desktop when starting up. Howe can I see when it's loaded in X? |

I got a free reg.number for 3.0 because I purchased 2.6.1 af few months ago. It works fine, haven't noticed any performance differences with L2CacheConfig 3.3. |

Does it accept v2.6.1's registration info? I'm currently using Sonnet X Tune-Up 1.2.6 because it seems that it also installs some CDRW-related kernel extensions which apparently made my external Yamaha 4416S SCSI CDRW to be recognized in Mac OS X 10.2. I tried also L2CacheConfig 3.3 and PowerLogix Cache Control X 1.2 before trying Sonnet X Tune-Up 1.2.6. I prefer Sonnet because it loads very early and thus makes the boot process quicker. As a nice touch it also enables Apple System Profiler to correctly display L2 cache size even with my XLR8 card unlike other L2 enablers. And most importantly, it brought the CDRW back so now I don't have to boot into 9.1 to use it. And it is free and IMO good PR for Sonnet! |
