PowerBook Kanga stuff |

Well folks, I finally have need of help. I have successfully loaded up MacOS 10.2.6 on my newly acquired Kanga. It works and seems to be stable, albeit a bit sluggish; faster than I expected though. Anyhow, the internal modem is inoperative. Anybody have a hint as to how to get the internal modem in a legacy PowerBook to work in OSX? So far, I have done the usual stuff that I would do on my iMac but the Internal Modem Line in the Pull-Down is unavailable (although the internal modem shows up in the modem list). I guess this means the software wants to operate the modem through a USB port (as in a UMA type buss), which means the software driver required to attach to the legacy internal modem seems to be absent. Or, is there a terminal setting that can be used to enable the internal modem? Any help or where to find MacOS driver for same would be much appreciated (thanks)! |

Thanks for the reply Ryan, I appreciate your efforts. Once that's done, the modem should also be usable for people with 3400's too . I gave mine to a friend, but he's still using OS9.1 exclusively. Doesn't know about OSX. I'm most interested in getting things working completely (and with reliability) on the Kanga, for great reasons. The thing otherwise works fine, and am most impressed with Safari on it ! Also, as promised, I tried to use Startup Disk both ways, and it didn't work. Have to use XPF to get back to OSX. HAve fun, and thanks again! |

I haven't actually spent any time with the modem on my Kanga. It's with my wife on a trip at the moment, but when it gets back I'll give it a try and see what I get. It's possible that it will be necessary to write a driver for it. |
