This is a Powertowerpro G3/480 (metabox). With a Acard 66 and a ATTO UL2D, Radeon PCI 512M.OSX 10.2.6 This system has been working great for months with a Maxtor 60G as the boot drive on the acard (6260M). Last week I was playing with the TV card drivers after seeing them mentioned on XLR8yourmac.com. After a crash the machine would no longer startup. It would display the grey Apple and then the spinning wheel never showed... I reinstalled the system (10.2) from my original CD, and it went smoothly, but afterward, no difference. I have tried reinstalling the disk driver from 9.1's drive setup, I have reinstalled bootx and the extensions from XPF. If I set the output device to radeon, then in verbose mode I can see the system trying to load the drivers and failing... This system works great when booted from another OSX install on the UL2D, and the Acard and drives show up aok. I feel sure the Acard has a good install of OSX also, yet somehow it cannot load the drivers at boot to get going. Any ideas? Ryan? Anyone? TIA Marty PS Obviously I would love to avoid erasing the drive if possible... |

I manually removed all system resources I could find.. ie System,private,etc,var,etc... Still no joy. It's very odd... Marty |

It may be that those TV drivers are corrupt or have corrupted otherwise good drivers which are needed. This means that if they are still on the drive and have the proper names and the metadata is otherwise correct, the installer sees but doesn't replace the files. Then you are perminently stuck if true. Only fix I can think of is to save out personal files and apps, scratch the drive and installs as if new. Then replace your stuff. Icky and yuck! But that's my 2 cents, maybe I'm wrong, anybody? |
