I installed the xpost program and sucessfully installed OS 10.1 with no problems. I then purchased OS X 10.2 and tried to install that without going through xpost. Now my computer will not boot! It goes to a dead screen everytime. I tried installing from the OS 10.1 CD and it constantly restarts the computer. I tired the OS 10.2 and it gives me a big NO (circle with line through it). I can not find my os 9 CD for this computer, but I tried the one that came with my G$ and it would not work. I tried all of the solutions on the support page. However I could not find the motherboard button. What can i do here?!?!? Thanks |

Videocraft, The on board switch is a little silver box with a red button on it. It is about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. It is to the left of the G4 card in your processor slot (you do have an upgraded system don't you?). I use a pen to depress it for at least 10 seconds. Any startup cd will work. A Norton system works 1 from owc for $10 will get you there. Before you try booting into X again, be sure that you have the newest version of X post facto and that you reload the boot extensions. I have even booted into X using the system works cd which has 9.1 on it. I did it by accident and am not sure it is a good thing to do though. Good Luck |

This IS the technical support for the product. If you're on a 9600, what you'll have to do is get an OS 9 CD, and boot from it. Why an OS 9 CD from another machine won't work, I'm not sure. If that 9 CD is newer than 9.1, however, it will not boot your Old World machine. Read on the disc, and if it says something along the lines of Mac OS 9.2.x, you're SOL and you'll have to find an older (read: 9.1) disc. I think OWC sells 9.1 CDs on the site, so check that out if you need a 9.1 disc. Once you're on 9.1, you should be fine for using XPostFacto to get into 10.2 by reinstalling all of the extensions and BootX into the new system drive and folders. |

I have tried everything listed on the site including removing the battery from the motherboard all night. How do I get in touch with someone at technical support for this product? Thanks |

did you try holding option down at restart? this will boot you back to OS9 if it can. What i ended up doing (when i first installed and got this problem) was to first use the CUDA switch, then unplug the pram bat and the plug from the wall and let it sit, but that did not work with ever computer (it happend twice, with the PowerComputer PowerWave or what ever that is it worked but with my J700 (umax and it is an 8600, but that does not mean this will not work) i alternated zapping the pram and using the pram restore disc from my sonnet G4 card, after about 50 of these it worked, but each time i booted into the pram disc i could do nothing (that worked every time) because system 7.5.5 is on it and that is useless if you formated with HFS+, anyway it booted into 9 after about 50 of those, i have no idea why but it did. Good Luck! Jim |
